Social Media Comment Policy

The office of Commissioner Andy Meyers uses social networking platforms to connect and interact with different audiences. At this time, we share content on FacebookTwitter, Google, Nextdoor, YouTube & here on precinctthree.com.

Participation on each of these platforms is by choice, and not a legal requirement. Participation on each platform is intended to communicate general information only. It is not to be considered an official means to communicate with Commissioner Meyers, or Fort Bend County.

Moderating and posting comments should only be expected to occur during normal business hours. We encourage public interaction and communication about the content we post on our social media accounts. However, this does not imply that Commissioner Andy Meyers & staff agree with or accept the content, opinions, or views expressed within any public comment. The person who posts a comment is solely responsible for the content of the comment.

While we do not discriminate against views or opinions posted to our social networking accounts, we reserve the right to remove, hide, or not approve any comment.

Some of the reasons we may remove, hide, or not approve a users comment are listed below:

  • Comments that promote, foster, or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of any protected class under state or federal law.

  • Abusive, vulgar, obscene, racist, threatening, or harassing comments.

  • Libel, slander, or personal attacks of any kind, including the use of offensive terms that target specific individuals or groups.

  • Spam, including content that promotes products or services or contains gratuitous links.

  • Duplicated comments copy/pasted across multiple posts will be subject to deletion.

  • Comments that make unsupported accusations.

  • Comments not topically related to the particular social media post.

  • Political campaigning or lobbying.

  • Comments that are really customer support questions for Fort Bend County

  • Comments that suggest or encourage illegal, dangerous, or destructive activity.

  • Comments that include information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems

  • Comments/Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party.

The Office of Commissioner Meyers uses various third-party social media services for outreach. Use of these social media services may require a membership that subjects users to policies, requirements, or rules beyond our control. Commissioner Meyers and his staff do not endorse membership in a particular social media service and take no responsibility for any content that may be posted by other users. Communications made through social media services will not, in any way, constitute a legal or official notice to Commissioner Meyers, Fort Bend County, or any of its entities, officials, or employees.
