On Saturday, October 6, the official dedication of the Abe & Lizzie Daily Park was held at its future location off Nails Rd. in the heart of Simonton, Texas.
The park will provide much-needed sports facilities to residents in Fort Bend County, and will also include a nature preserve along the land bordering the Brazos River.
A native of Simonton, Dr. Harold Daily, his wife Joyce and daughter Laura provided a generous donation of 68 acres of land to Fort Bend County in honor of Dr. Daily’s parents, Abe & Lizzie Daily. The land was provided with the specific purpose of establishing a community park and nature preserve that will preserve the environmental and ecological heritage of the area for generations to come. Abe & Lizzie Daily were pillars of the Simonton community. Having immigrated from Russia in the early 1900’s, the Daily’s met and married in 1915 and lived out their days in Simonton, Texas where they owned Daily Bros. General Store & raised their five children.
We appreciate the generosity of the Daily family and look forward to our community celebrating the rich legacy of the Daily family in their use and enjoyment of the Abe & Lizzie Daily Park.
